A few weeks ago my wife said "It's not working" and handed me the little Verizon that was fine for almost two years. "I don't know what is wrong with it." My hand felt wet. I took the battery off and water dripped out. When I showed this to her she said, "I don't know how it could have gotten wet because I never ....."
At the store they showed me how to tell when the battery gets really wet: the little green color design in a hole at the top turns red. And, of course, the battery was no longer available. So, after an hour or two looking at all the neato features we would never use, the clever designs we didn't need, and the great colors that made no difference, I finally found it.
The Casio model G'zOne Type-V is water-resistant (30 minutes underwater), dustproof, shock-resistant, etc. It supposedly meets some kind of military specifications and might actually do so because no one else sells Casio phones. It is a little bigger because of the plastic guard/link at the bottom but not a problem at all. It is the same price as most others and it comes with a simple charger/cradle. She loves it and now it is her phone not our phone.
